The Truly Timeless & Romantic Wedding Day of Séan & Clare at Our Lady of Assumption and The Great Hall at Mains
This is a truly full and complete tale of our floral journey with the beautiful and lovely Clare & Séan, I admit to a ridiculously large number of images in this here Blog posting but we couldn't edit down to any less, ergo apologies in advance for thosse of you preferring a more compact posting....
Jason and I have had the great pleasure of knowing Clare since she was a little girl, not only did she go to the same school as our two daughters, but her Dad Jim was our very first ever customer when we came to Blackpool, we remember he bought a bunch of freesia for his lovely (& some might say long suffering but not me, after all he's also our dentist!!!) wife Julie and that is around 26 years ago now.
Over the years Julie & her fabulous Mum Jean aka 'Mrs Graham' & Mrs Benson have come along to our Demonstrations, Supper Clubs, Afternoon Teas and Flower Design Clubs and to be quite honest we love them all they are the very best customers and friends a florist could ever wish for!!!!
So it was our huge pleasure and privilege to be asked to design and create Clare & Séan's Wedding flowers for them, it was going to be a hugely special occasion in our Flower Design history and theirs too of course!!!!
~
I thought we should start from the beginning with a few snaps of the sample Bridal designs we'd created for Clare and Julie to see way back in December. A combination of Calla Lilies, Roses, Orchids, Hydrangeas and Heather was decided upon. We made samples of Bouquets, Boutonnieres, Church and Table designs, they were loved and looked forward to by all, roll on February...
Last Thursday we took delivery of all Clare & Séan's flowers and this is just a fraction of them in our chiller
On Friday we all started early on the preparation and creation of the bridal flowers, the full Flower Design team wanted to be involved in the creation of these very important designs
Our Vicky was working on the Candelabras
Josie was putting together the silver fruit bowl designs
Whilst our Shirl was creating the Pomander for little Grace
Ruby and I were making the Bouquets
The Rose Petals were rolled, wired and bound in preparation of the corsages
On Saturday morning Jase & I were up at 5am, the flowers were loaded on the vans by 7am
By 10:15 Josie & I were arriving at the Bride's family home (which was filled with a plethora of fresh flowers including Freesias!!!!) to present the Bridal Bouquets
Our beautiful Bride (even in rollers) with her Mum, Bridesmaid's & Grandma were ready for the big reveal....
Clare's magnificent Bridal Bouquet of Phalaenopsis Orchids, Calla Lilies, Lilac, Heather, Roses and Hydrangeas was truly a thing of beauty
We attached this lovely charm on to the handle of the Bouquet
The Bridesmaid's Bouquets were in a posy shaped design created using some of the same flowers as those used in the Bridal Bouquet
The completed pomander of Roses, Lissianthus, Heather, Hydrangeas and Astrantia
I showed everyone how to carry their Bouquets to create the perfect silhouette

Josie & headed off to Our Lady of Assumption to meet up with Jason to arrange all of the flowers in Church
On either side of the front door two of our Lantern trees stood sentry

On each alternate pew end we placed a posy of fragrant Hyacinths, Roses, Hydrangeas, Astrantia and Anemones
The Pomander created for little Grace was to be presented to her at Church
Josie & I lined up all of the boutonnieres and corsages ready to pin them on to the Groom and his party as they arrived ...

Clare's super handsome Bride Groom the lovely Séan was first to have his boutonniere pinned in place by yours truly
A Calla Lily, Heather, Bells of Ireland, a Snowflake Rose with Hydrangea florets and Astrantia were combined to create a rather dramatic boutonniere, perfect for our Bride Groom
We pinned on all of the boutonnieres each one slightly different but all created from blooms included in the Bridal Bouquets.

Clare took everyone's breath away when she arrived at Church with her lovely Dad Jim, her Cascading Bridal Bouquet complimented her exquisite gown beautifully
Completely and utterly gorgeous, Clare was wearing "Snowdrop" by Naomi Neoh, from her Secret Garden collection the design was inspired by Grace Kelly in the film 'To Catch a Thief", it comprises a bodice of ruched ivory plisse silk schiffon which flows into a soft 'A' line skirt.
Clare's flowing and slightly cascading Bridal Bouquet looked perfect against the silk schiffon of her skirts
