Wonderful Wild Flower Wedding Day at St Cuthbert's Church, Lytham & The Gibbon Bridge Country House Hotel in The Trough of Bowland

We begin the day with a jam packed van full of fabulously fragrant, wild and wonderful early summer blooms... We arrive at our gorgeous bride Lucy's home and introduce her to her bridal bouquets...
THE BRIDAL BOUQUET:The bouquet I created for Lucy was in a “Flower Design” hand tied style with wild hand picked feel, I included a variety of soft spring shades including Pinks, Palest Lemons, Apricot, Lavender & green, the flower selection included Viburnum Opulus, Lily of the Valley, Anemones, Ranunculas, Bluebells, David Austin roses, Peonies, Sweet Peas, Lilac and a lovely combination of herby foliage. The bouquet wasfinished with a semi covered handle with stems left naked.

I love this time when we can really show the bride all the lovely details within her bridal bouquet, it's a very intimate part of the day and I really want our brides to know each bloom.

This lovely lady is from Clarins in Stringers and she did all the girls make up on the day.

The bouquets for the bridesmaids needed to be kept simple as there were so many of them, Lucy and I chose very beautiful nosegay style bouquets, kind of garden gathered with fragrant David Austin Emily Roses, Lilac, Viburnum and very carefully selected foliages to compliment the green of their gowns

The flower girls bouqets were very much smaller versions of the older bridesmaids bouquets, I included some really innocent flowers like Lily of theValley, Clematis, Aquilega & Bluebells.

Then to St Cuthbert's with the Church designs, I have to say this church really is immaculate, the wood gleams, consequently the flowers look so vibrant.

The gorgeous lady that played the harp was simply wonderful.
I included some fabulous material in the pedestal, Huge branches of Poplar, Jasmine Trails, Delphinium, Bright Red Poppies, David Austin Roses, Fresh Peonies, Clematis, Dill and Molucella to name but a few.

In church we needed to be sympathetic to the grandeur of the church whilst remaining true to the spirit of the day

The pews were dressed with posies of Blue Bells, Sweet Peas, Margerites, Veronica, Alchrmilla Mollis, ranunculas and trails of fresh variegated ivy.

Andy our Groom wore the most wonderful Marc Wallace suit and we matched the most perfect David Austin Rose together with a sprig of Lily of the Valley and some jasmine blossom.

William the Page Boy wore a small Artemis rose with a sprig of palest pink Astilbe

The mum's wore epaulette corsages to compliment their outfits and the day.

The bridesmaid's bouquets really were a perfect colour combination to compliment the pale green and pale pink gowns.
The wonderful photographer for the Day was a great chap called David Millington, he was really great fun to work with and got everyone relaxed and enjoying themselves, he's promised me some images so I'll do a profile of his work in a few weeks.

The Bridesmaids Anna, Liz, Rochelle, Hannah and Angela really loved their bouquets and seemed to hold them as if they were seriously which of course they are but it's really nice to see them held with such dignity.

I think they also loved the fragrance mainly from the David Austin Rose Patience

The car looked great with the ring of Daisies on the it's boot

Lucy looked so utterly gorgeous in her Sassi Holford Gown "Daisy" (hence the inclusion of lots of them), which came from our great friends Gill & Georgina at Dreamcatcher bridal in Kirkham.

This Apricot Rose "Juliet" is so perfect

Then to Gibbon Bridge...

The wild random colour and flower scheme continued with a selection of tied posies in varying glass vases.

At Gibbon Bridge I really wanted to keep the designs low on the tables so as not to complicate the view of the gardens and the room as a whole, I suggested naturally tied wild posies in clean clear glass vases and imagined the church pew ends on the light fittings and porch designs on the windowsills, the church pedestals would go on either side of the top table, these elements would give the necessary height without over doing it.

Gibbon Bridge is always such a delight to decorate and all the banqueting team headed up by Richard are just so professional, I've been doing weddings here for about fourteen years and the staff are the same, this really is such an excellent sign of good management and it always makes me feel immensley confident, Janet the owner always comes in to survey all and her personal touch is very evident, we love it here! The food is exceptional with really clever touches, their assiette of puddings is to die for!

The cake decorated with Peonies, Roses & Sweet Peas.

The table favours were little packets of wild flower seeds.
And the mum's all recieved beautiful bouquets in the speeches. Huge Congratulations to Andy & Lucy and many thanks for letting Flower Design be part of such a wonderful day.

Hi Jane,

What a day that must have been! St Cuthbert's to Gibbon Bridge!

I have to say, I've noticed you mention David Austin Roses quite regularly recently and have become increasingly intrigued as to why they're so special...and as always, wikipedia satisfied my thirst for knowledge! I can see why you love them so much now!

I've had so many wonderful comments about the flowers - "now that's what I call a florist!", "they were simply fabulous", "stunning", etc.etc. I can't thank you enough, Jane, for such a display totally capturing the mood and essence of the occasion, that's not to mention your support on the day! Much, much appreciated. Mary (Lucy's mum)
