The Elegantly Classic Blush Pink Autumn Wedding Day of Leanna & Ryan at Samlesbury Hall
Aah we do love working at Samlesbury Hall, it's just on the outskirts of Blackburn and Preston, deep in the heart of Lancashire.
It's such an authentic venue, steeped in history and one that I've been dressing for weddings for more than 40 years, it's one of the few venues that I remember coming to as a child with my florist Dad, back then I would have to wait in the van whilst my Dad 'dropped off' table flowers. I was always desperate to have a look inside and if there was time I'd get to take a peek, still now I get that same frisson of excitement coursing through my veins whenever I'm there.
Later on as a young florist working for the family business in Blackburn, I had the great thrill of creating flowers myself for weddings at this atmospheric venue, very little has changed in the intervening years, the same high standards and quality of service still prevail today and I continue to be inspired by this magical historic building.
As a result, I'm always super careful about the designs I suggest to my Bride's & Groom's, I have an overwhelming desire to keep the flowers 'real', within the realms of possibility of what may have been used way back in the hey day of Samlesbury Hall (& an element of artistic license too).
There's an ancient Rose Garden just outside The Whittaker Room, so when I came to make Leanna's sample Bridal Bouquet English Garden Roses were an absolute 'must have' flower, I teamed them with other English Garden flowers; Hydrangeas, Anemones, Stocks, Lily of the Valley, Astrantia, Ivy, Delphiniums and fresh Herbs
At Leanna & Ryan's 'Sample appointment' we also made a collection of table design ideas, the hands down winner was our 'Baroque Candelabra' dressed with a plethora of fresh trailing foliages and fresh fragrant English Garden flowers
We made suggestions for the Bridesmaids Bouquets and also made suggestions for how they could be used as part of the table flowers after the ceremony and all the photographs had been taken.
Leanna loved her sample wedding bouquet
We also made Ryan a sample White 'Yorkshire' Rose boutonniere with fresh herbs and Gypsophilia
A traditional candlelit Top Table design was decided upon
At long last the big day finally arrived and we presented the box of Bridal Bouquets to our beautiful Bride and her Bridesmaids in The Bridal Lodge
So much joy when Leanna saw her bouquet
The Bridesmaid's carried smaller posy shaped versions of the Bride's Bouquet
We showed everyone how to carry their bouquets perfectly
The Bridal Bouquet of English Garden Roses including Keira, White O'Hara, Bombastic, Quicksand & Mentha, I teamed them with other English Garden flowers; Hydrangeas, Anemones, Stocks, Lily of the Valley, Astrantia, Ivy, Delphiniums and fresh Herbs
We lined up all of the Boutonnieres ready to pin them on to the Bride Groom and his party

The Candelabras were overflowing with exquisite foliages and English Garden Flowers
The small Registrars table was dressed with small posies of Roses
The aisle was dressed with fresh fragrant Rose Petals
The Bridal Bouquets looked stunning, lined up ready to be picked up y the Bridal party as they headed for the ceremony, we used a soft blush pink palette teamed with ivory and white highlights
